First let me say how sorry I am to read of your son’s passing from brain cancer. I came upon your story in doing research for my mom who was also diagnosed with gliomatosis cerebri in December of 2007. As you know, this is a very rare and devasting disease for both the patient and the family. Thank you for sharing your story.

Reading Andrew’s story made me cry. My 11 years old son is also being struggling against gliomatosis cerebri for one year.

My name is Mike McPhee, and I was Andrew’s drama teacher and director in High School. I am overwhelmed right now as I have just heard of this tragedy. I have a picture of Andrew in my class room, now far away, of he and others giving so much to our program. And I make a point of referring to him each and every year with my students as an example of what I expect from them on stage. Your son, your brother, has left an indelible mark on me. I say this because he was so genuine, so giving and so talented…a young man who wasn’t afraid to show vulnerability and honesty on stage and in the classroom. Our Andrew, the most perfect Romeo. He was a gift and I will never forget him.

My heart is with you and my prayers are endless. “Death, that has sucked the honey from his breath…” but has no power over his spirit, his memory or your love.

My deepest condolences.
